I just read that the church in LA is going to pay $660 Million dollars to sexually abused victums.
When is the Catholic Church going to wake up and let the clergy get married. Nuns and Priests are always involved in sex scandles and it's just not natural for men and women not to marry. God himself told Adam and Eve to Multiply and replentish the earth and Jesus Christ sanctified marriage to be between a man and a woman and that they should "cleave unto each other."
I think it's time for the Catholic Church to read the bible and do as it says. then all of this nonsense with priests and nuns will stop. What do you think?

According to mental health professionals, pedophilia is not connected to celibacy or homosexuality.

This very small group of child molesters would be just as sick or evil whether or not they had taken a vow of celibacy.

For more information, see "10 Myths about Priestly Pedophilia": http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/facts/fm0011.html

With love in Christ.

The Catholic Church should change its ways, it must change its ways if it is to last, sure its lasted until now with the single clergy thing but it wont last much longer. The reason the church is against married clergy is because the clergy is seen to be "married" to the "mother church", also in the bible peter says it is great for a person to be married and have a family if he is to run a church, it also says abit later that it is even greater if a man is unmarried and able to run the church. I think the clergy should be allowed to be married, few religions today dont allow its clergy to be married. Also when a priest comments on life and family stuff wouldnt it be better if he was able to draw from personal experiances, instead of a line in the bible and what a parenting or help book says. So yes clergy in the catholic church should be allowed to get married while they are clergy, or be able to be clergy even after they are married. A clergyman in the catholic church can be married in his life, but it must be before he gets ordained, and his kids must be past college and financial need, and his wife must have passed away, then he can be a clergyman. They should be allowed to get married and have a family anytime, and isnt it hypocritical if the church keeps saying family values and then the people cant see the family values in the church everyday in the priest, since he doesnt have a wife and kids. By the way i also think women should be accepted into being clergy, cant women too be called to serve God as a clergyperson, why would men only be able to have that kind of access.

But doesn't the bible also talk about celibacy, too? (Matthew 19:12; 1 Corinthians 7; ) You speak so strongly in favor of marriage and procreation - do you think those who don't are actually sinning just by not having children, or not marrying? And it's a very broad generalization to say "Nuns and Priests are always involved in sex scandles"... I think in fact it is a tiny minority, and there have been more than a few protestant ministers who have sexually misbehaved, if you have any stones left to throw...

Do you think yourself that Jesus was married? was Paul?

... I personally think this is a matter for catholics to decide.

You speak as if the reason for sex abuses it because of celibacy. Could you be any more wrong?

If celibacy is the reason for sex abuse, how do you explain all of the married men and women who are also pedophiles?
