Because I have really big breasts and a bit of a wide hip. Does anyone know if this aesthetically correct? thanks.

Honestly, the best way to find out what works for you is to go try on dresses. Also, try on every possible style you can. You will be surprised at what looks good. A lot of the time, brides will think they know what they want, but when they try it on...yuck!

With a wide hip, you want something that will flow down from your hips. That will give you a smooth line and minimize your hips (there is nothing wrong with having wide hips though) :)

With large breasts, you want to make sure you have support. Don't do strapless! You will be very uncomfortable and will most likely be tugging at the top of your dress all night. The halter is a great idea. Try on different styles.

Good luck! I am sure you will find a gorgeous dress!

I had the same problem. I ended up getting a V-neck w/ a low V in the back, the wonderful thing about dresses is you can have alterations or add on things too. The dress maker can make a bra fit perfectly inside the dress. The strapless works well for some but I believe the "gifted" girls need and alternative.

I think you should go by yourself and just try on dresses and see, then go another time with family and friends.

I don't want to make you nervous, but some places wanted 9 mths to order a dress. I planned my wedding in 4 mths and had my dress a week before my wedding. I was so stressed that I ended buying two dresses as a back up plan. One for the ceremony, and one for the reception. The alterations will also take a couple of weeks. So plan ahead.

Good Luck and have fun planning.

Yes, you can get a halter top with a a-line skirt in a wedding dress. However, if you do have big breasts, the halter may look like a "come get me" trashy look instead of an elegant, classy look. You'd be better of with a low back dress where the top is scooped or straight across. David's bridal has a wonderful selection. But, you better get your butt in gear girl. You don't have much time. Good luck.

Halter tops can work well for someone with big breast, I'm a DD to DDD cup and they work for me. However, they have to be well fitted so the strap is not digging into your neck the whole time. As far as the a-line skirt goes, my wedding dress has an a-line skirt and it does wonders to hide the hips. Ultimately though, it comes down to what you like, try on a variety of dresses and have someone take pictures of you in them. Good luck and congrats!

I know all the magazine have these body type articles, but honestly, the best way is to go try on lots of dresses. It is not just the basic shape of the dress, but also beading, fabric type, length, etc. that influence the way it looks on you.
For my body type, I was convinced I needed a halter, but I ended up with a strapless.. you just have to try them on! Hurry.. you only have a few months!

The halter top would work well for you (stay away from the strapless gowns... brides usually spend the entire reception pulling them up and they do not look good on full breasted women). Congratulations!

i think that it sounds like your confident about your shape but are worried about your breast size. i would go with the droopy neckline and a silky form fitting torso. i'm not a fan of dresses that are tight all the way to the ankles so i would say give it flow past the torso. i don't know if you've seen a teenage movie called "she's the man" but the gown at the end that amanda bynes is wearing is what comes to mind only in white.

go to brides.com. they had an article about this. halter tops are good for big chests according to them, just make sure the girls don't squeeze together, lol. also, a-line is flattering for everyone, especially wide hips. sounds like we have similar body types..i tried on a dress just like that and it looked beautiful. i went with a strapless ball down though. good luck!

i had my heart set on a halter too. i have big boobs and tried one on and oh my god, all you saw were boobs, take a day and go to a bridal shop and be open to try on anything and everything. i ended up with a beautiful strapless dress that is very flattering.
