John 14:12
14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.
14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
14:13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
14:14 if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Jesus has the power to raise the dead because his father gave him that power. Not because he is God. Jesus is an angel. He is the first born of God. The beginning of God's creation. (Revelation 3:14) 14 “And to the angel of the congregation in La‧o‧di‧ce′a write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God, What else would you call Jesus if not an angel and the son of God? God said Jesus was his son. The Apostles agreed that Jesus was God's son. The demons said Jesus was God's son. The roman soldier said Jesus was God's son. If he is God's son then he is an angel just like the rest of God's heavenly sons. What angel would be more powerful than Jesus? Who would be head over Jesus among the angels? The Archangel means chief angel. No other angel would fit that description.

Jesus teaches that this is so but bases the ability on the persons Faith. There are many healing miracles happen as a result of Christian Faith and there have been people brought back to life after death but Christians tend not to talk about these things as sceptics will only ridicule Gods work..and it is Gods work..not the person who does the praying...it is Gods response that does the miracle. The problem would always be the 'proof' because unless someone has seen it for themselves...they WILL NOT believe.
Perhaps one day you will witness a miracle for yourself...will you then believe?
Best wishes, Mike.

First, we don't heal anyone. But I have seen God heal. I prayed for my father, after getting a call he would not make it through the night. I got off my knees with a calm assurance that I can't explain. When we got to the hospital, he had been unconscious most of the day, his lips were blue and very little color in his face. He sat up in the bed when I walked into the room, pointed at me, laughed and lay back unconscious. The next morning he was sitting up and eating and left the hospital 3 days later. It has to do with us asking according to the will of God. Jesus said He did nothing of himself, but what He saw the Father do that He did.

Skeptics who peer at this verse ask when any believer has done a greater miracle than Jesus. As it happens, this is an interpretation of this verse that also catches many of us, in thinking that the "works" referred to are miracles. But the Greek word here (ergon) is not the usual one for miracles; in refers to toil and everyday sort of work - and without (obviously!) snubbing our Lord's earthly ministry, I think it is quite obvious that believers have done things to surpass that on earth! Take a look at how the word is used elsewhere:

Matt. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Luke 11:48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
The one place where ergon does refer to miracles is John 6:28: "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?" Of course, the context and the "worker" is the only thing that allows us to see miracles implied here! The word itself has no such connotation.

We can do greater things if we put our minds to it.
We can be the good Samaritan, we can be the friend of the friendless, we can create our own future.
God has given us the abilities to do incredible things, we can heal the sick, ask any cured cancer patient, we can raise the dead ask anyone that has come out of a coma, and why do these things happen??? Because someone in these peoples lives are calling out their name to God.

We are and incredible group of people and if we could get past our differences in politics, religion and race we would be able to move mountains and change the world.

Jesus is supposed to have said a lot of things, but you must remember that the Gospels were not written by anyone who was actually there to hear Him.
Jesus's sayings were passed down from generation to generation and, as such, can not be relied upon to be a faithful reproduction of His words.
This, plus the fact that the original Gospel texts were in Aramaic, then translated into Greek, then Latin, then English, resulting in all sorts of translatory errors, means that most of Jesus's reported quotes can be taken with a pinch of salt.
Everyone can relax, then.

It has been passed down through apostolic succession.

Priests heal the sick, provide absolution for sins, perform the miracle of the consecration. Many of these things, such as healing, forgiveness, even raising the dead may be termed as spiritual healing, forgiveness, and rebirth.

Still there I suppose. But, I don't have the faith. And if I did, I think I would abuse it. I mean, I'm just a normal guy, work a normal 16 hours a day, bring home a pretty nice check. If I was able to do something "that" miraculous, it would probably go to my head. I would love to have the faith and move a mountain, but, mine barely moves that mustard seed!

You forgot to include the passage where it says you`ll be able to heal the sick and raise the dead , Wilhelm . I`d like to see it .

Jesus was referring to the most important of his works ........... that of witnessing to other people about God and His requirements for humans . He will help you with problems regarding following His footsteps in doing what He did .

You`re taking these passages out of context , because there`s a LOT more in relation to them in the bible .

You`re probably unhappy because you didn`t get that new shiny Lamborghini you asked for , so you think these statements by Jesus are false .

It doesn`t work that way Wilhelm .

The "greater " things that we can do today is help win souls for Christ. Things of eternal value far outweigh the things of temporal value. This is what brings glory to the Father because of the work of the Son @ Calvary.
