The OTC crap doesn't work on anything except roundworms.....maybe. Get your dog into the vet and get it wormed properly. Quit being cheap. The Rx stuff isn't that expensive. If you can't afford the Vet, you shouldn't have a pet.

It is possible to see the worms after giving the de-wormer. They working out of her system and this is normal. However if you didn't get the de-wormer from the vets, I would suggest that you do. The over the counter stuff does not always do the trick. Also vets ususally treat more than once, usually a few weeks after the first initial doese, another does is required. The worms you are seeing, by the way, are round worms. very common in puppies!

If she is passing the worms then it's working. Check to see what the bottle says about how it gets rid of them. Make sure you are completely getting rid of all the worms and any eggs that the dog passes from your yard or the dog will be re infested time and time again. Most dewormers have you give it every 2 weeks until you see no evidence and then every month to 2 months after that. Get to the vet and have your pup put on a monthly preventative also.

NO! There is not ONE wormer that will eradicate all worms.
If you gave your dog a regular worm, it told you what worms it treated.
You probably gave the wormer for round and hook worms, but the worms you describe are tape worms and you need to get the tape worm medicine.
Be aware that it's one of the few worming tabs that's difficult to give. It tastes awful, but it works great. Treat your dog for tapeworms NOW and you'll find them gone soon.

Generally speaking, wormer kills the worms and then they come out. However some types work by anesthetizing the worms - they let go of their grip on the intestinal wall but aren't really dead. I'd flush them, and be sure and wash my hands afterwards.
I would be more concerned if she wasn't passing and/or vomiting them.
You usually need to worm again 2 weeks later.
Once you get her on a monthly heartworm preventative like Interceptor, it takes care of the intestinal worms as well.

dont worry. its nasty looking but thats how the wormer works. you should work your pup every 2 weeks with a recognised wormer until it is 12 weeks old then every month until it is 6 months and every 4-6 months thereafter. that is my recommended protocol in ireland.

Hiya! Folks! Although the treatment is working, i suggest that you reduce the puppies daily intake of food! This will quicken the process. I dont mean starve the little mite, but start the daily reduction down by a third!good luck!

of course if u dewormed a puppy ul expect to see some worms to be voided out from the anus and some are even alive. this means that the dewormer is working. and this worms ur telling are i guess wat are called the flat worms. so if ur dewormer is for flat worms it would be better. and u need to repeat it after two weeks thereafter...
