I don't do meth anymore, but I know it stays in your hair for years after use. Could you get in trouble for failing a hair follicle test for meth if it was per say 1-2 years ago?

It would probably depend on the length of the test site. Hair grows about 1 cm per month, it would likely be pretty far away from your scalp by now, and I would guess that the sample would degrade the further it is from the scalp. Washing, elements, hair color, hair spray and other products. This is just a common sense guess however. Best wishes in your recovery, and I agree, honestly would probably go a long way with your employer.

Are you training to a nurse of joining the police? Are you sure you will have to undergo this test?
Even though you have quit you do not want your employers knowing about this - you know what prejudice is like.
Hair grows at about 10 or 15 cm a year I think - can you get the old stuff cut off to be sure?
Good Luck.
