im a wheeled mechanic in the army,i get there dec.10th.when will i go to iraq or afganistan?

It depends on which unit you're being sent to. I Corps doesn't deploy; it's a pogue unit. The rest are on different rotations. You may be sent in the spring, if that's when your unit is deploying. Or you may be sent within a month of arriving, if your unit is already there. Some units from Ft Lewis are deploying in November, but not all are.

It all depends on what unit you are going to be in. There is a new stryker brigade forming here that will be leaving six months from september. If you are going to the aviation unit, you may deploy to Iraq within a month or two after arriving (my husband's unit is the only aviation unit on lewis and they just left). Or you might just be lucky to go to a unit which has just returned from or will be returning soon from Iraq so you wouldn't get deployed anytime soon.
