It was frequent in cold weather. Upon start-up and putting in reverse the engine quits. It starts fine and ok in drive. Put into reverse again and it quits. Once warmed-up it's ok. Now summer time and it's acting like it does in the winter. In addition, I just took a trip and the engine quit 3 times when slowing to make a turn. The next day it ran fine????

First you may have more than one problem, the stalling in reverse may be a Transmission concern, check the fluid level in the Transmission if it is low it will cause this concern. Also a loose filter inside the transmission will cause this concern. As far as the stalling coming to a stop, possible causes are the Cam position sensor located in the front of the engine on the passenger side of the Crank pulley. The Cam sensor is a common failure. You can take your truck to a local Kragen and they can check it for codes if you have a code for the Cam sensor then you will need to replace it. If you have no codes then your best bet is to service your transmission with a new filter.

if no check engine lamp suspect crank sensor on lower right of timing cover. also check battery connections and condition [this sensor must have above 11.3 volts at all times in order to function.
[a battery with one dead cell will cause a no start/stalling even though the engine cranks over at normal speed]
knowing this; and with winter heat/defoggers back up lamps on at idle all at the same time and now in summer heat with a/c blasting back up lamps on at idle etc.. i am wondering if your alternator is up to snuff or you have a battery/ corrosion problem [if batteries ,connections and charging system all test ok then replace the crankshaft sensor]
