...from the upper west side? I prefer to use only the subway, not the bus. Thanks!

The Met is on the east side on 5th and 82 street at the east side of Central Park. There are no subways that go across town through central park. Only buses. If you take a subway from the west side you'll have an annoying ride with transfers to at least 3 different subways...and when you finally get on the #6 train you'll still have to walk a few blocks when you get off. Take a cab.

Easiest thing to do is just take a cab. You're going from the upper west side to the upper east side to the cab can just cut across the park and you'll be there in no time.

Take the 1,2 or 3 to 42nd Street. Then take the crosstown shuttle, the S, to the east side. Than take the 6 to 77th Street. Then walk to Fifth Avenue. It's a nice walk in an upscale neighborhood.
