Hi,
the other day I saw an ad,
and it had this on it:
"je ne suis pas jolie, je suis pire"

what does it mean? something among the lines of; i am not pretty, i am worse?

thanks!

I'm not sure what the ad is/was for, but that's a semi-famous quotation attributed to the French actress Marie Dorval. She is supposed to have written it in about 1866 to the author Georges Sand, with whom she may or may not . . . Well, that's another story.

Anyway, your translation is correct, and it is ambiguous. I guess that's why it's still around!

Hmmm... I just googled that phrase and found that it is being used by Kookaï:

Your translation is absolutely correct.
Perhaps the advertiser is trying to strike that spot of insecurity within us, so that we feel that we have to rush out and buy whatever it is to make everything all right again!

It's a kind of joke.
It means :

"I'm not pretty, I'm worse"

It's a way to say, "I am more than pretty"^^

There's a lot of T-shirt like that in France !

It says "I am not pretty, I am worse." (not 'the worst'.) A bit of adverstising jargon that means nothing. I think it's from Kenzo.

That's what it means literally. What type of product was being advertised?

I'm not pretty, I'm worst (than pretty).
Just an other meaningless ads gimmick.
