That totally depends on the cat. I've done this several times and never had an issue. All my cats are all very sweet and accepting.

I have brought other cats into the household with no problem. I have had more than one male cat several times. Keep the young one in a separate room for a while. The older one will get the idea that something else is there without immediate confrontation. The kitten usually will back down and let the older cat be dominant. The other cat will know it is a baby. I don't think you will have a problem. I would suggest that you have both animals neutered also. This helps tremendously.

We've never had a problem. Mine had a new kitten introduced, he was suspicious but in less than an hour SHE was chasing HIM all around the house. Our third cat introduced was a 'teenager' of about 9 months and he liked her as well. We've brought in two full grown males in the past few years and he adjusted to all of them with barely any problem.

It was the GIRLS who violently objected to newbies showing up--they would both stand 9' away and swear at the new guy something awful, but nobody ever tried swatting or fighting. It took a while, about 3 months to feel completely comfortable with each of the new guys, for them, but they all calmed down (no more hissing/swearing) after a week. We did slow introductions, to make it as easy as possible.

So our MALE didn't have a problem. Gender isn't anything he's holding against any new cat.

It depends on the cats personality. If it is mean it will probably try
to claim its territory. If it is calm and nice it probably wont.
