Are there gaps pertaining to religiously bias materials in our TV and printed media standards that ought to be evaluated and perhaps even acted upon as new inclusions to our existing child protection laws?

Your thoughts please.

The easier (and less restrictive way) to do this is to give children the tools that they need to resist such brainwashing.

Logic, critical thinking, and the scientific method of inquiry should be required to graduate from primary school. The world would be a much better place.

Read the Bible and get God's thoughts about things. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 says "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." If you were Satan what would you use to deceive. Wouldn't it be religion. And one better - the respected mainstream religions. It's false religions fault that people can be deceived so easily. Religion that claims to be the truth should be teaching their flock. John 4:23, 24 says God wants his worshipers to worship in spirit and truth. The only way we can know if the truth is told to us by religions is read the Bible. If the Bible says don't do a certain act but the religions are saying it's okay then they're doing the brainwashing. God does not change. His standards are forever.Malachi 3:6 An example: 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 A true Christian can not be brainwashed for they know how Satan works and have the complete suit of spiritual armor on. Ephesians 6:10-18

We need to be careful to check if our own thinking in each issue is straight. Yes the media people are not Gods and they have their own bias and interests which could mislead even adults leave alone children. We however must lead by example for our children to develop patience, understanding and tolerance for others' views, habits and even deficiencies in our everyday life.
Let us then trust the ability of our children to distinguish between bad and good.

If you spend any time watching TV, movies, media, reality shows, soap operas etc...I think it's the opposite.

Drugs, anti-religious propaganda, pro-homosexual sex, pro-choice, pornography, sex outside of marriage, adultery, divorce are all promoted as healthy and normal. That's brainwashing. Children are being taught in school now that it's normal to have a Mom and a Dad, or two Moms or two Dads. Some elementary schools are teaching sex ed. Kids can get condoms and abortions without their parents knowing...it goes on and on...that is brainwashing.

The sad thing is, many adults like you, don't even realize it's happened to you. I guess it wouldn't be termed brainwashing if it was something you were cognizant of.

By getting rid of catholic teachings in schools, its not fair to push a religion onto someone without them being able to make up their own mind on which is best for them, schools should provide pamplets on different religions and then provide the teachers of that religion.

I think the first thing is to become aware of the techniques of mental coercion and then teach your kids to recognize them and defend against them. If you leave it up to governments and society at large you only make yourself prey to other manipulators.

Any religious teaching prior to age 21 is child abuse.
