my father inlaw as a xp running system the problem he is having is he trys to load a disc to install it loads so far then stops with a error msg saying user as aborted operation. what cud be causing this and how do i fix it for him plz?hope sum1 can help me out??thanx

can the disc install on another pc?
Could be anything... from a security layer, to permissions (not an administrator), spyware or virus interferring...

To solve this, first scan the Disk for virus'. Once you know it's clean, disable your Anti-Virus software, any Anti-Spy / Anti-Ad software and your Firewall. Make sure you have no Internet connection at this point as the PC will be wide open and vulnerable. Now try running the Disk and it should instal fine. This is a problem that is usually caused by the configuration in software that is designed to protect the PC. Whilst installing, you should notice that the install is far quicker than expected due to no software scanning the files. However, towards the end of the install, if you require an Internet connection, restore all your protection software beforehand. You can leave any on-line registration until a later time if required.

You need to include WAAAAAAY more information if you expect any serious help. You only get out what you put in.
You need to type the name of the program, and the error text message into a google search. I assume you have 2 machines, since you posted this.

how long after boot you see this msg? nayway, 1.my be your boot.ini file broken. you can copy this file from any system and past in your system. this file is attrib and hiden.
2.you can input a windows CD in your CD Drive and boot your system of CD mod and use Recovery Option .

when I had that problem, I checked to see if the cables were secure to the mother board and cd rom drive. Then i realized I just needed another cd rom.
Depending on the age of his computer he could possibly just need another drive and their pretty inexpensive

sounds like the disk is scratched and unreadable. You can try to have it cleaned by taking it to a video store that can take out scratches, or buy the program again
