YOU ARE PROBABLY RIGHT BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN. HE COULD HAVE CONTINUED WRITING HIT SONGS.NIRVANA WAS THE HYPE BECAUSE AT THAT TIME MUSIC WAS CHANGING ITS SOUND AND THEY APPEALED TO THE MAINSTREAM.THERE ARE ALOT OF ACTORS,MUSICIANS, ETC. THAT PROBABLY WOULD NT HAVE THE STATUS THEY DO JUST BECAUSE THEY DIED AT THE HEIGHT OF THEIR CAREER

I half agree and half don't. I do in some respects think that once he died he was made eternally famous as a tortured poet. However, I also think he was responsible (alongside Pearl Jam) for introducing grunge to the mainstream (whether you think that is a good thing or not is up to you) and making people more aware of this genre of music. Remember Nirvana were a massive worldwide success on the release of Nevermind and its single Smells Like teen Spirit! Also if you look at bands like The Smiths and The Cure who influenced the direction of music in the 80's well Morrisey and Robert Smith are still icons and they still exist. So in summary I think he still probably would be a legend.

Wow, I was just thinking this today!!!!!!! I wondered if they'd be able to sell-out big arenas when they toured or if they would've sold out and lost popularity... I think he still would've ended up dead...lol
