You can download a virus, never happened to me with music, but with movies, etc. they are often viruses.
If in doubt don't download, or virus check!

Limewire is a P2P program, commonly used for Piracy (stealing copyrighted files). Read this, from their website:

The consequences of Piracy include: hefty fines, prison time, fear, guilt, and my personal favorite: tons of malware.

There are free, open source versions of most popular commercial software, so "Piracy" just doesn't make any sense to me.

Examples include Windows vs Kubuntu, M$-Office vs Open Office, PhotoShop vs GimpShop, WinZIP vs IZArc, Norton vs AVG Free, etc., all free. See more examples below:

Feel free to post here and ask for the free equivalent of ANY "insert name here" commercial application.

if it mucks your pc up most repair shops will charge more if you have used Limewire or bearshare.
try ares. and make sure you scan the file before you open it
