Make sure you include the full URL, as in:

http://www.yahoo.com

You gotta prefix it with "http://"

See that http://www.yahoo.com is an active link
but
www.yahoo.com is not. If you put the http:// in front of it, you can click on it.

For html, use this format...

yahoo.com
for a regular URL

It won't be active here, but must be inserted into the HTML of your page, then viewed on a browser to be active.
