It's a choice made by people who are born with an innate sense of attraction to the same sex. Otherwise they would be free to choose not to be gay.

I don't know how many times this question has been answered, I guess there should be an automatic standard answer. What causes people to be heterosexual? Genetics perhaps? Have they found a gene which may be responsible, well some say yes. There are lots of studies that have been carried out on twins. One twin is gay the other is straight, both have been brought up exactly the same and had the same social background. Why is it that one is gay, well there you go genetics again> It's all about programing. I think you will find with most gay people somewhere in their family may possibly someone who is gay also, or the ones who have declared they were gay. Lots did not because of fear of retribution from family and friends, as in some small close knit communities. It is difficult because you have to know that a relative or grandparent may have been gay and as I said this is not always easy to check. For those ignorant people who think that being gay is a choice, then they need to be educated. People don't just get up one morning and say, "Oh, I think I will choose to be gay from now on". It doesn't work that way. Most of the genuine gay people have said that they always knew they were different, but as children did not know what that was. And don't forget one has to be sexualised to understand the difference anyway. Children have no concept of attraction to a particular sex unless you teach them. That comes at a later stage in development, a lot through social pressure and family pressure to conform to the norms of society, which is what happened to a lot of gay people years ago, they got married and had kids and did not come out as gay through fear and reprisal, and a lot just did not understand what gay was anyway. Just because a person is gay does not mean they cannot have sex with a member of the opposite gender, it's just their natural instinct is for a physical, emotional relationship with a member of their own sex. I hope this has answered your enquiry.

Some people are born with it. Its called nature. Like me I have always had an attraction to men but I never acted on it until about two years ago.
Nuture is different. Some people are those who are willing to try anything once. Therefore trying the same sex & eventually being gay or bisexual.
If you know in your mind that you aren't attracted to the same sex then you won't be gay. As long as you are only thinking about your mind & not religion or something else.
Its all up to you.

There are so many answers to this, but i will only talk about some of them so you can understand more. First there has to be an influence. This influence can be done by innocence or it can be a deliberate influence.
A person may have a gender nonconformity or not and not have any diagnoses even. This is often the one thing that can cause a person to become gay without any outside influence.
Just realize a child can be influenced and make a choice and even forget making that choice, but will be influenced from that choice made innocently or not. the rest of their life.

Being a gay man doesn't mean be 'half woman" if it were a hormone problem the gay men would have problem having erections or simply having beard.
I think it's mostly a natural difference that all natural life form have, differences are what are making us better, all the rest is only ignorance.

Now, I don't know about what "causes" people to be gay, but I do know FOR A FACT that God made me this way, and didn't want me to be any other way. Imagine, if you are capable, of thinking about this differently. I've "experimented" with the heterosexual lifestyle (GASP!!!) and KNOW FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY SOUL, THAT I AM GAY.

People who are gay or transgender are born that way...nobody wakes up and decides...hmmm, you know, I think I want to make my life difficult and turn gay and take on all the hardships, trials and tribulations of being homosexual...studies have been done and have found homosexual brains to be a little different that straight people. For many, it is inhereted through genes...AND I AM SICK TO DEATH OF UNEDUACTED PEOPLE (LIKE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS) making out as if it was some kind of sin a person just decides to do...people are gay, and you know what? GOD MADE THEM THAT WAY!!!

No one knows. The possible reasons I have heard are...
--- Too much estrogen in men or testosterone in women.
--- An absence of a father figure (men) or mother figure (women) during childhood.
--- Being sexually abused as a child.
--- Having homosexual relatives. (genes)
--- Conscious decision.
--- Persuasion by friends, family, society.
--- Sexual obsession. (I don't care where I get it, I just wanna get it.)
--- Birth. (God made me this way.... or I never chose it, I've just always been attracted to the same sex.)
But the explanation is irrelevent. I mean, the only reason anyone wants to better understand the source of homosexuality is so that they can develop the 'cure' for it.
Ultimately, you are who you are, regardless.
