Well, just in case you've never come across this saying before, if you want to change the world or other people, start with changing yourself and your actions first. Only thru your actions can you have an influence on other people so they'll follow your example.
For the job bit, maybe start off thinking what you want to be? Like something that you like doing. Which I don't think include the postal service.

Sometimes just being a good person, friend, coworker, etc. is good enough. Helping others in small ways, helping out, lending an ear, sympathizing, just plain being nice to them, can be a gift to ordinary people. You can be of help even as a postal worker. You're only 24, so time is on your side. Go back to school, travel, read books about everything, watch foreign films, etc. The more you know the more you can talk to people and help them.

no one is going to give you a direction or goal, that is something you have to settle on for yourself. why did you take a degree in commercial art? do you remember? have you given up on that reason? doing something positive for mankind is rather a broad field....try narrowing it down. Musicians do something positive, they provide relief with their music....medical personell do something positive they try to maintain health.....business people do something positive, they provide employement and goods for purchase....do you see what I am saying? you need to find something that sparks your passion, then no matter what that something is, it will be of benefit to mankind.

volunteer abroad.
there's tons of organizations who need all the help they can get.
you could also help in the states. there's so many people who are in need. try being a counselor to a child, offering a sandwich and a blanket to a homeless person, volunteer at a soup kitchen, or even attend to the human society.
or hey, if you're into religion...there's tons of things you could do!

Read "Life On The Edge," by Dr. James Dobson. If you can stand all the religious crap and references he actually has some really good advice for people our age.

Don't do what I did and smash Tokyo to ruins. So many years of my life wasted because I couldn't let go of the anger.
