I took the Monistat One before bed and about 90 minutes later, the burning was so bad it woke me out of a dead sleep. Could I just be having an allergic reaction toward the medication? And what can I do about this burning? I took a shower but it only helped a little. I want to go back to sleep but can't.

I've had that happen. It does make it worse before it gets better. As long as you don't have a rash, check. If you do, go to the doctor.

Yes, you could very well be allergic to the ingredients in the medication. To try and help ease the burning you can try sitting on a bag of frozen peas or doing a cold sitz bath (with the tub you can just run some water in there that goes up to the lower third of your body) and then sit in it for about 20 minutes.

This can act like an anesthetic that may help ease some of that burn. And please let your doctor know on Mon about what has happened to see if maybe they can give you a different kind of medicine to try for the yeast infection.

I too have had that reaction. My theory is all those nasty little candida start running around trying to get away from the monistat!

Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. Try soaking in a tub with a cup of salt.
