I plan to purchase motherboard, case, power supply, memory and hardisk separately and build my PC by myself. But I need advise if this is possible for 'intermediate level' user like me. Or is it better to buy a pre-packaged PC in the mall?

It is safe, and as for 'intermediate level' probably easy too, I would not mail-order to buy it myself the stuff is like buying a stocked car in a car dealer, fine if you can't do otherwise but not fine as a protectionist mentality.

I would buy a bare-bone kit, half of the components are assembled.

A better point, is that you should NOT buy a pre-packaged computer, like a Compaq, HP or Dell. Rather you should study and research the parts you want, and their compatibility with one another. Once that's squared away, you want to find someone who can build it for you, and preferrably you can be involved, even if it's just watching.

Most computer component installation and removal is not rocket science, but there are things you need to know in advance and if you lack the confidence, you can and most likely will have a problem..or two..or maybe eight :)

Indeed, buy the parts yourself, have someone else build it.

Doing it yourself may save you some $$$, but it takes a bit of research to make sure all of the parts can work together.

If you want a sure thing, just buy a dell or something. If you are willing to put a bit of blood and sweat into it... then sure, build it yourself.

The main concern is who the computer is for... if you are building it for granny, will you be around to service it? If not, maybe you should find something with a warranty.

as the others have said just research the parts you want to use.... most importantly though once you pick the cpu you want. you will probly have to look at a few different motherboards and power supplies... the motherboards for the slots they come with will dictate what else you can add in for other cards and ram. and for power supplies to make sure you have enough power to run everything and have the right connectors to do so ( granted the connectors are standardized, it just making sure it has what you need

do not buy a pc at the mall. You can do it yourself, just research and make sure everything is reliable and compatible. It is actually pretty cool

initially do not pirate an working device, lol, it ***** each and every thing up. Secondly, study over the instructions first and be sure you have each and every of the areas. it somewhat is a incredibly immediately forward technique... Screw your motherboard in, initiate plugging in the cords from the flexibility supply and each thing else is incredibly elementary. additionally, be sure you have a sprint screw motive force, it somewhat is ***** once you may screw the corners in with a huge *** motive force.
