Sure as hell not the President. The troops are the ones suffering with inadequat supplys and equipment.

Also, How can people say the support the military and support this nonsense?

I will dare say the Liberals don't support the troops. They were the same people spitting on the military before Sept 11th. ( Don't deny it) refusing to let us in if we showed our Military ID's and In CA not allowing us to use Geneva convention ID's or out of state IDs for identification.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are traitors to the men and women of the armed forces (Publiclly declaring defeat and witholding funds) and you should be ashamed for putting them in office( Or at least your ilk.

Coragryph, Thank you for being a reasonable person on the other side of the issue. It is nice to see there is another side. I just have to respectfully disagree. there has got to be a better way than cutting funding to the military.

See they don't think they are punishing anyone! They think its just a simple cut them off they all come home and everyone lives and prospers... When in actuality the cuts cause danger with less funding means worse conditions for our soldiers also the funding helps control and build in Iraq so they are punishing them too! Not a good idea.

They are not punishing anyone, per se. The pentagon has enough money to support the troops for a while. What the democratic congress hopes to achieve is force the president to present a timetable of withdrawal of the troops from Iraq.
It's funny how neo-cons overuse their false dilemmas about how liberals hate the troops, the liberals are the only ones doing anything to bring the men and women risking their lives in the Middle East back home.
Someone explain how that equates to hating the troops.

They're using the only leverage that Congress has.

Under the Constitution, Congress has sole control over federal funds. So, if Congress wants to get something done, usually the best and most effective way to do it is by controlling the money.

But look at the big picture. If Congress withholds federal funds to the military until Bush orders the troops home, then Bush is just as much at fault if he does not. Both branches have equal constitutional authority to do what they're doing.

Pelosi and Reid are a disgrace to their party and country. The American people don't want Bush to get by with continuing the war and bankrupting the country.

The Republicans want the troops to be redeployed over and over again without coming home and seeing their families, their support systems. That leads to suicide in some cases. Depression. It has been proved that the troops suffer more mental illness when they are treated the way the REPUBLICANS want them to be treated.

Don't you DARE come and say the Dems don't support the troops. Who sent them over there without the right equipment??

Please. This is SO tired. It's like you guys voted for the guy and have to make up lies in your heads to tell yourselves you did the right thing. Grow up, man. Take responsibility for your MISTAKE.

The troops need to come home. Be with their families. Be ready for when we need them for something REAL. This war wasn't real. There were no WMDs. Iraq didn't attack us on 911. I just don't understand you and your mentality. Or your spelling.

Don't you think the real suffering by these troops is by being killed! We need to get out of this war based on lies and oil. It is easy to say we should stay in a war that the majority of this country sees as a disgrace when you don't have your family over there. I support the troops, not this administration or their policies. Maybe Reid and Pelosi know its time to bring our troops home? Maybe!

From one of your obvious heroes:

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

They were not trying to punish the troops, and you know it. They were pulling funds so bush would pull troops out of Iraq.

It is so tiring to see people lie to protect the president. Many people in this country support the troops. HOW MANY STORIES HAVE YOU HEARD SAYING WHEN TROOPS CAME HOME, THEY WERE BOOED OR SPIT UPON? NONE!!! However, YOUR PRESIDENT cut some of the health care budgets for them.

So who is not supporting the military here?

Anyone who thinks the liberals support the troops are idiots. Pelosi and Reid have kept needed supplies from our soldiers, and those lack of supplies could cost lives. And they did this all to make a liberal political statement. It amazes me how they put such little value on the lives of others, but place high value on their political agendas and political careers. I think they're both traitors and a disgrace to this country. Why they're still in office, I'll never know!
