I have, in my mind, songs associated with most people I like, but many don't know it. I wonder if they'd choose the same song (s) I did... :)

Thank you for your answer! :) Have a wonderful Sunday and week ahead! :)

When I first saw this question I thought that I could never pick just one song but I have: Brother in Arms, by Dire Straits.

I'm a reluctant soldier against ignorance and injustice. I am a pacifist at heart but here I am on the front lines of education - and it IS a war.

I don't like the constant fighting and I would rather run and hide in the woods as I know that would benefit me, but it would not help dispell the ignorance in the world.

Teaching has been described as the 'greatest act of optimism' and perhaps it is and perhaps too it is the greatest act of egotism for one has to believe that one has something to teach.

But without spreading education the mistakes of the past will just keep on being repeated and our Earth, our precious little planet just cannot withstand much more abuse.

So here I am, a soldier fighting for peace, fully aware of that terrible contradiction, fully aware that I don't have all the answers but also aware that we cannot carry on the way we have and that we cannot let ignorance rule the day.

Brother in Arms

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day youll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And youll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
Ive watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

Theres so many different worlds
So many differents suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the suns gone to hell
And the moons riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But its written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
Were fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

SAD or ROCK? Okay.. I'm now not definite on that. If by way of unhappy you imply.... sluggish and sort of emo... Evanescence has tons of those, as good as rock, comparable to: Hello Like You My Immortal Your Star Missing All That I'm Living For Sweet Sacrifice Weight of the World Going Under The Veronicas: All I Have Heavily Broken In Another Life Someone Wake Me Up My Chemical Romance has tons of well rock songs, and so does Switchfoot.

"Only A Heartbeat Away"
(Charles W - T Consaul)

1. I asked you to think about me now and then
And you told me that it might be okay
We've got half of the world in between us
But we are only a heartbeat away

2. There's thousands of miles
Of water and sand
Just sitting there to get in our way
But when you think of me, and I think of you
We are only a heartbeat away

C: We can't even see the same stars in the sky
At the smae time anyway
We can look at the sun but it shines too bright
And the moon is never the same

3. But thought the tides rise and fall
And the mountains tumble
Though the wind and the rain have their say
When you gave me a piece of your heart I knew
We were only a heartbeat away

C: We can't even see the same stars in the sky
At the same time anyway
We can look at the Sun but it shines too bright
And the moon is never the same

4. But when you smiled at me, and I smiled at you
We were only getting ready to say
That no matter what tries to stand in our path
We are only a heartbeat away
Only a heartbeat away
Only a heartbeat away, okay
We are only a heartbeat away

(©I wrote it, played it and sang it.)

It's a little obscure. Remember the movie "The King and I"? At the beginning, the widow and her son are on a ship on the way to Siam, and there is a young couple on the boat. She sings "Hello, Young Lovers," which includes the line "Don't cry for me because I'm alone . . . I've had a love of my own."

Hear that song when you think of me.

Hi Moon,

I'd like to think all my friends can:

LEAN ON ME -

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
