Is war a justification to kill? I'm worried that it isn't. Thou shalt not kill is definite. It doesn't say, "Except if or when ......". So if you believe in Heaven n Hell do you think God will make an exception? God is supposed to love us ALL, not only those who believe in certain things or not. This suggests that we are killing His children as they also are by killing ours. I ask all who believe as I do and worry about the men n women as I do to pray for them as I do. What r ur thoughts? I'm really curious.

I'm sure i'll get some thumbs down for this but I think you'd rather have TRUTH than sugar coated BS right now.

there they go 'interpreting' again.

First they say the bible is 'gods word" then their MORTAL selves go INTERPRETING.

LAW is LAW.

Hold tight to THAT religion and YES you burn.

I follow my peoples traditions, there is room in it for killing.
BUT
It has to have REASON.
Kill for food, OK.
Kill for self preservation OK.
Kill for sport, NO.

I never could understand following a religion that dictates it's own destruction. Look to the church's history. Often times they had priest pray for BOTH SIDES in a battle.

I'm not PRO WAR, how ever I am PRO TROOP.
Pray to who ever, but PRAY.
Pray no other mother, lover, SON has to know that kind of loss.

War in the 'holy lands'. . .

I want our troops back here defending our shores, but they're trying to keep the enemy from getting over here by being there.War is a part of life, I'm sad to say,but God understands how violent the human race is.If those men and women weren't putting there butts on line and killing insurgents, the terrorist would have no problem sending you to God.

Baby Girl, I pray for them too...But it is what it is! War stinks and these boys that go to war and possibly have to kill have no choice. Most of them have issues when they come back because of it. I think God is a all knowing God and knows who feels sorrow for what they did. He is also a forgiving God who will forgive those who hurt inside for having to do it..I pray everyday for these peoples soul because they are caught in the middle of two rights...their belief in God and defending their country and all that they love. Wouldn't want to be in their position, but am glad we have them on our side! But in the end in this day and time I think God would forgive what they have to do.

i believe a more literal translation is "thou shall not murder." lots of old testament biblical saints, heroes, prophets, etc. killed people. god does love everyone, but he is just too. god himself, kills people in the bible, or he sends his angels out to do it for him. also, death was not seen as the taboo that modern society tends to portray it now. in biblical times death was a part of daily life.

david kills tens of thousands...jesus comes from david
elijah kills the priests of baal...he was so loved by god that he took him so that he wouldn't see death
samsom kills tons of philistines
moses kills a man
etc...

war is never a good thing but it's the nations that are killing...the soldiers are just an extension of the hand of a nation. judge the nation, not the soldier. however, i won't bring up current politics, but not all war is wrong. sometimes people/nations/organizations have to be stopped, even if it means violence.

The commandment, good translated, is "Thou shalt not homicide." God forgives killing. Murderers have malicious reason. it somewhat is the excellence. As C. S. Lewis defined--and he became a Christian who became additionally a soldier--he had no malice in direction of persons he became struggling with against. He stated it became somewhat achieveable that have been they to fulfill on the line exterior the context of conflict, he became in all probability to discover them to be nice chaps and would have fun with a quaff or 2 and a few jibber-jabber on the pub with them. He held not something against the persons individually, and became not killing out of hatred, rage, envy, or the different merciless/self-serving motivation.

personally i don't believe in hell. a being so wonderful as god who would create imperfection in us would not doom us to an eternity of pain. however as christians believe, i do not feel that the soldiers would go to hell if they felt remorse for what they had done and acknowledged their sin to god. If we wanted a truly jesus like answer we would have turned the other cheek.

"You shall not kill" is not a very accurate interpretation of the Hebrew commandment in the Old Testament. A better translation is "You shall not murder." Murder is different in that it implies an unjustifiable killing.

Killing in self-defense or in wartime is not considered murder. According to Christian theology, those soldiers who die within a faith relationship with Christ will be in heaven.

And I pray for our solidiers every day too.

God will forgive anyone of any sin, In the bible there are many wars and there are many of them that he ordered to happen. We really don't know if this war is something that has been ordained by God. But to answer your question yes he will forgive them if they ask him to.

I'm curious as to why you are only worried about "Christian" soldiers? What about the rest of them?

I guess that depends on your religion. The Muslim extremist believe that if you BLOW yourself up and kill a lot of Innocent people around you that your going to heaven. (In the name of GOD of course....can't forget that) I don't know. I need to start my own religion. We'll start our service by sacrificing a penguin. Then we'll all get naked during service and rub green Jello all over ourselves. Then close with eating Cow patties.
