why indian PRESIDENT post is politics oriented???

a president means politics free man , who only thing for the country not for any party. Mr. Kalam is a good example.then why this post is selected by the political party? why these people are coming from the politics origine? Why the president candidate is not coming from a Education origine, such as --professor, doctor,engineer, scientist, army personnel (all those are politics free origine). Tell me yor view
