There are 5 primary branches of philosophy, prioritized roughly as follows:

1. Metaphysics - basically that which is apparent, but not physical

2. Epistemology - Theories about how we can know things, what knowledge is exactly, and why it's manifested so similarly from person to person (see how this actually could come under the metaphysics section since knowledge is not physical in nature).

3. Ethics - How come we all seem to agree that there is generally a common way we should conduct ourselves? See how this could be a sub category of both 1 & 2.

4. Logic - Hmmm - why does there seem to be this step-by-step way of apprehending the world that keeps popping up from situation to situation? Same thing! See how this is descendant from 1, 2 and 3!

5. Aesthetics - What is beauty, exactly? How come sometimes people agree something is beautiful, then other times, people disagree?

All of the above are metaphysical, since they deal in the conceptual realm. But they are what makes up (for the most part) PHILOSOPHY.

Physics (believe it or not) used to be contained under the philosophy heading. It broke away and went on its own a long time ago, though.

Not exactly sure what you are asking here, but I'll take a shot anyway...

Philosophy is usually broken up into three major branches:

Epistemology: which deals with knowledge...what do we know, and how can we know it...

Metaphysics: which deals with existence...its ultimate nature and essence

and the little bastard brother...Ethics: which deals with the shoulds of our existence and actions

Hope that's what you wanted.

According to the library of congress, Philosophy, Psychology, Religion are all terms of philosophy. In other words, things we think but don't necessarily matter or matter in the most high.
