If you want to lay grass sod on your lawn, then you must be talking sod. These usually come in rolled sheets measuring 4 ft. by 4 ft. You can find these in the big hardware stores but it is best to go to the source - you have a better chance of getting the sod fresher. Look up for your closest sod retailer in your area. Better yet, if you want to save on money, start your lawn with grass seeds but do it when the weather is cooler, around the fall season, and you should have laid out your watering system, like, an automatic sprinkler system so that the seeds will not dry out so they grow into grass.

You mean Sod? as in a sheet of grass and dirt with plastic netting behind it?

At a guess, I'd say they were about 1 foot wide, and 4 feet long, and about 3/4 inches high.

If sod is what you mean, you can now spell it, and that will let you do a web search. Some of the stores probably include specifics like that, so you ought to find it now without too much trouble.

The sod I used to lay while landscaping was 18" x 3' rectangles, on one occasion used rolls that were 1' x 6'. It depends on who cut the sod and what dimensions their cutting machine was set for.
