They don't. The abortion right issue that you assign to "Libs", is a matter of being able to make personal choice on medical issues, without the goverment dictating it. That is not liberal, if anything, it is more libertarian.

The answer to your question lies in the wording of it.
"Rights" are individual freedoms that protect oneself from government power, whereas "Values" are commonly regarded traits or idealisms that are of importance or meaning.
The first one deals with something the government needs to legislate (Rights), and the second one is something that you yourself should regulate. YOU should be teaching family values to your own. YOU should be letting them know the responsibilities of adulthood and the risk of pregnancy.
The government has no business teaching family values. The government, on the other hand, SHOULD be regulating the legislation regarding abortion. Liberals are concerned with what the government does? For pete's sake, that's completely rediculous! Why would anyone care what the government does?
I'm a liberal who values family values very much. I think that kids should know to be smart and that abortions really shouldn't be needed, but in case they do then I wouldn't be against it. Honestly, I really could care less about some infinitesimal part of a future human being. Chances are, if allowed to be born, this child will be brought into the world in a situation which it was never meant to be in. Teenage mothers are not people who can raise a child correctly, responsible, older mothers can. Why should we allow future evil to happen; to put a child into a world it was never meant to be in?
You're simple "whay do libs care more about abortion rights then family values?" question runs a lot deeper than conservative slander. Moderation and understanding are lost in contemporary American Politics. It's a shame.

I don't think rape is a family value.
Pretend you're a happy little 15 year old girl who is regrettably fertile walking to the library. Not-so-happy 56 year old man with a very happy bulge in his pants sees poor little girl. Rape ensues. Fertile 15 year old is stuck pregnant, her life shattered, and she won't even have the option of abortion.
Or, her parents are abusive and when she comes home they don't believe that she was raped and think she's dirty, so even if she can have an abortion the law wont let her without consulting the parents first.
Many girls might turn to doing it themselves, via extremely dangerous sharp objects, and in turn kill themselves.
Not fun. Not a family value.

Rudi Is divorces three times.
W paid for a woman he got pregnant to get an abortion.
Ronald was divorced.
McCain was divorced at least once.
Some people talk a big game. Some stick it out and practice family values.
Republicans are hypocrites on this subject. Democrats in practice do more for family values than Republicans.

Shall we discuss the recent events in the Republican party concerning your hypocritical staunch family values colleagues?
Perhaps you should clean your party's front porch before you question the Dems!
I don't remember reading or hearing anywhere where they question women having abortions which political party they are affiliated with but I am quite certain there have been numerous women who would fall into the Republican column!!
Rudy's got the majority in the polls now....yeah that's a GREAT representative of family values!!
Get real!
Pro-choice is mainly about the government not having control over a woman's reproduction decisions!!
Let's focus our attention more at prevention of unwanted pregnancies!!
EDIT: Hey dumbwat above me.
She wasn't having sex alone there!!
How about teaching our young men to take some responsiblity!!

Typical Con who thinks only in black and white. Why does it have to be one or the other? Why not both? Libs do care about both issues very much.

Why do cons continue to wear blinders where the failed "abstinence" program is concerned and refuse to support universal access to contraception and sex education?
Huh?
How about taking some concrete steps toward REDUCING teen pregnancies and abortions?
Or is that against your "family values?"

Abortion is something you prohibit as readily as you would force someone to undergo.
It falls to the discretion of the one who has to bear it, and since you obviously wouldnt want one, nobody would force you to. Though your pretense makes for quite a convincing argument in favor of it.

eh, they get a little carried away in the discussion. their position stems too much from doing something just because the cons won't motto. abortion should be legal and at the discretion of the patient but the moral question should be left squarely on their shoulders it is not our place to decide for them.
