Did America ever really have a moral compass? The invasion of a foreign land inhabitated by natives that we conveniently started wars with to take the land as well as initiating wars with Mexico and Spain to take their holdings as well all in the name of "manifest destiny." Is that moral! How about shipping thousands of Africans from their home country to work as slaves or fighting a war against communism by killing thousands of vietnamese & koreans. When exaclty do you think America had a moral compass?

By the way, no other country has a "moral compass" either. Where have you been the last few thousand years in history?!

What ever could you mean? Moral compass? As far back as I can remember there has always been a percentage of the population which assumed the mantle of moral judges of the rest of the nation. People go about their lives, trying to put shoes on their kids feet. The big time moral enthusiasts sit in their chairs and do nothing but ask for donations. People are people, and what they do, short of human sacrifice, is just exactly what they have always done. It may not be moral to some, but it is usually very human. Sex and murder seem to be the big topics, and sex is usually the subject of any moral dispute. Murder is sold on the basis of it being the proper punishment of the immoral, those getting too much sex, and the morality of murder to prevent sex is beyond me. Look under religion, pogroms, jidhad, crusades, etc.

Oh my god yes... people have no morals they have been thrown to the wayside. In our local paper there was an article about a mother of a gang member driving her son and 7 other young men to a park to beat to death another young man also a gang member they did and she stood there and watched! Or the parents that let there 10-12 year old daughters wear shorts with "Juicy" written on the ***. I mean I could go on and on. It is frighting to see how this generation of children are growing up and how some from my own generation behave. The way I see it there won't be a massive flood or fire and brimstone that destroys the planet and its inhabitants it will be us that does it to each other!

Yes. As a matter of fact, I do. People tend to act in ways that are socially acceptable. In the 1950s, it was the "norm" to be Sally Homemaker, and Joseph Jolly. Times changed. People changed. Recreation changed. The recreations of today's world has really influenced morality in everyday life. It is socially acceptable to do drugs, have premarital sex, and plenty of other things which used to be horrific to the mind. Most of today's social recreations are illegal to begin with. People don't even take the law seriously anymore. To be arrested, is no longer horrible, life-damaging, or scary. It is just something that happens and you get out eventually, hopefully. America has lost its compass more severely than other countries I believe. Not counting like the terrorist nations, but such countries as France and England, have much more moral consciousness than we Americans. America as a whole is getting out of hand. We need a team of specialized psychologists to treat each and every one of us. We all have a bit of crazy in us, no matter what. It all just varies by degree of insanity. Some have a much higher degree than the rest of us. However, yes. I do believe that America has lost its moral compass.

No. The average American is far too stupid to be able to even read a compass, let alone realise that They have lost it. And if the realisation actually does come to fruition, the smart money says that They will find a way of blaming it on Their Political leaders, and then demand a Tax Break, Welfare Payment adjustment, and Import Tarrif increases to offset the purchase price of a(Made in China) replacement.
How was that for some truth?

Wait, America has morals? Oh geeze! I missed that one somewhere. Sex, drugs, and violence, were like bringing the plague into a household in the 50's, wow we've traveled so far. "Here kid sit in front of the TV for 8 hours watching guys' hack up each other and screw chicks, WOO! Now Mommy & Daddy are gonna have a beer!"

I can only speak for myself, and I have not lost my morals as an American, I have had them challenged, but have held strong.
