if clemens and wang continue their efforts, and matsui, abreu will be consistent, you think they have a shot at making the wild card, possibly the division?

i personally think they will make the divsion especially couple of red sox players are starting to get injuries-(papi, drew, schilling, donnelly, soon to be named)

First off, when you ask these kinds of questions, the yankee haters will all come flocking like flies on poop. Anyway, I believe they need to play with more consistancy. They need to start taking 2 out of 3 in 3 games series and 3 out of 4 games in 4 game series. Of course sweeps wouldnt be too bad either. We have to stop worrying about Red Sox and Indians...etc and worry about winning games. I believe that they have a shot at the division and the wild card, but they need to play with more consistency in order to have that shot

No offense but your thinking is a bit delusional. The red sox even though a little dinged up are still getting the job done and if you look at the schedule you will see the month of September will be the easiest in years for the sox with the majority of the games at home as well. The sox have 15 games left against the devil rays as well. The yanks would have to finish the second half well above 500 and the sox would have to totally tank so the division is out of the question. The wild card Cleveland and Seattle have been playing pretty good ball over the last month and the yanks are 8 back so pretty much the same scenario look towards next year because the yanks committed suicide in April and May and no matter how good they are playing put themselves in a horrible position.

I am here to tell you that if the Yankees don't start winning "Immediately" Jeter will miss his 1st post season.
The difference between the Yankees of old and these Yanks.
Brosous, Martinez, Williams, O'Neil all knew how to hit and when to do it. These Yankees ...well if they don't put it over the wall, it don't count.
Clemons is a Legend but if you didn't watch him pitch then he is a memory. ( let me explain )
Younger players that never seen The Rocket do his thing are the ones who hit him well. But those that have seen him are the ones in awe.
Oh yeah by the way....get rid of Moose, he is a curse. Find it hard to believe. When he left the Orioles he said he wanted to be a 20 game winner and win a World Series....." He Still Hasn't Done Either " When he was with the O's He went to the playoffs twice and the O's lost both Series, Since he's been with the Yanks, The Yanks are 0-2 in the World Series and and still Losing in the Playoffs. ( The Yankees has not won a World Series since he been there )
The Yankee's has to start winning now.....I dont see it happening but ....any true basball fan remember "Da Cubs".
The Yankees need to get younger and faster while they have trade bait.

ehhhh....Maybe. The Yankees are sort of in a slump. They are 44-44, which means they are .500. Thats's ok. Roger Clemens is 2-4 with 31 strikeouts. He's not exactly doing as great as he could. Bobby Abreu hit a home run tonight. BIG DEAL! He hit one homer, that does not mean he will get out of his slump. Hideki Matsui has 13 home runs. Thats pretty good, but thats all he has. Matsui has the best chance of doing good for the Yankees out of these four players. Chien-Ming Wang is doing really good. He's 10-4 with 54 strikeouts. I'll put Wang with Matsui of doing good. The Yankees have a shot with the division but a better chance with wild card. Hope I helped!

It's over halfway through the season. It's over. What makes you think that Clemens and Mussina are going to get younger and start pitching better? What makes you think that the team will be able to make a comeback that has only been done once before, all the while dealing with the usual NY drama and the added distraction of the A-Rod opt-out? What makes you think that this team will all of a sudden develop any team chemistry? How will the bullpen, including an aging Rivera, get good in an instant? Give me one shred of evidence from this season telling us that this team is better than they are? Think. The Yanks are done.

There's always a chance. It's not looking good for our boys as pitching and hitting have been very inconsistent. But there's always a chance. They will have to run a couple of real good winning streaks and hope the Sox tank a little bit, but it's possible. Keep in mind this, the last time the Red Sox were in this position in the division, was 1978, the year they tanked, got swept by the Yanks, and watched as the Yanks took the Series

this talk has been goin on all season and it has not happened at all

you yankee fans keep saying wang and clemens continue to do this, mussina, hughes, this guy that guy need to get back their groove and start hitting like they used...well they haven't this year ...haven't done that ALL YEAR

Since day 1 ppl keep sayin yankees need to do this and that and THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING and we have come to the midway point of the season and you guys are under .500 about 10 games away from Boston's lead and like 5 away from the wild card...its just not enough

THere is zero team chemistry...ZERO

Lemme repeat that

ZERO TEAM CHEMISTRY

Yankees just don't play together at all...they all want to be heroes and thats not gonna get it done bro

Sorry its over, I just don't see them pulling together, teaming up and putting up a solid run as a team...just not happening this year...I guarantee Yanks will cut the lead of Bo Sox to like either 3 or 4 games but still that won't be enough to win the division or the wild card

I have lost a lot of hope. One thing is for sure. Mussina cannot continue pitching the way he is, if the Yanks want to make a serious run. His signing could be the "final straw" for Cashman's job.

Think about this answer as you watch Moose against the lowly TB Rays today.

It would take Wang being at his ground-ball best AND a serious breakdown in Boston. I think one or the other might happen, but not both. I say don't bet on it.
