No, not at this time. The problem is that as cells are frozen with today's methods the water in the cells of a body expands - breaking the cellular structure. This happens with most cells in the body, so the cells suffer irreparable damage (again, with today's technology. This could change with breakthroughs in flash freezing methods.) Unfortunately, suspended animation like we see in science fiction shows is still just that... fiction. No person has ever been completely frozen and brought back to life.

There are species of frogs that can be frozen in a block of ice and then thawed back out. I did this experiment in junior high years ago. I can't tell you if the frog enjoyed it all that much though!

You have to read carefully when you are looking this up in reference material. Some experts make the claim that they can perfectly preserve dead tissue by freezing. That's hardly news to anyone who owns a freezer. That is quite different than freezing and restoring live tissues and far short of a functioning person! Full recovery after complete freezing has not yet been achieved with any mammal

Sure, it happened to a Pizza delivery guy I saw on TV.

Seriously, no, not yet.

Stem cells and blood can be stored in liquid nitrogen for many years and then be used for transplants etc, but these are small volumes of fluidic tissue, which has all the serum removed and replaced with special medium, I think based on glycerol. This stops the cells from expanding and rupturing. This is not possible with large portions of solid tissue, let alone a whole body, as it would be impossible to replace all of the body's blood and interstitial fluid without causing considerable hypoxic damage to all the organs.

In theory, it makes sense. Freeze someone (particularly close to absolute zero) and aging would stop... as well as organs and hunger and such.

The problem comes mostly in the process of freezing and unfreezing, NOT in the time you are frozen. When you step outside and it's cold, you can get sick... moreover you can die. Same can happen once your organs restart when you begin to be unfrozen.

Thus, the solution would be a flash-freezing and flash-unfreezing method (similar to the way Dippin' Dots -- The Ice Cream of the Future is made).

But we have yet to discover such a method that is reliable and/or safe.

If ur frozen, it stops ur body from decomposing. in order for this to work, Doctors would need to find a way to bring a frozen body back to live. Ur body dies when it is frozen and there for the only way this would is if someone somehow ur body is brought back to live. and yet it is possible

It can't be done yet. They say Walt Disney is frozen unless that's an urban legend.

No, it has never been done, because it's impossible. The ice crystals peirce holes in your cells, thus destroying them and killing you. Also known as frost bite.

sarcastically speaking, haven't you ever heard of the kenniwick man? http://www.kennewick-man.com/
altrhough I don't think he had alot of choice in the matter. truthfully there are people who have paid to put themselves into the deep freeze.

Yes, theoretically--the technology doesn't exist currently to make it happen, but it may in the future.
