I am having a recurrent vaginal infection (BV) and know I need to take acidophilous. I have the pills and take about 3 per day (1 billion organisms per pill) but am wondering if it is more effective to eat 8oz. of yogurt every day instead?

Either one is fine but it won't have an effect on BV. It helps prevent YEAST infections and keeps your digestive flora healthy.

Yogurt has the actual living enzymes that are more effective than the pills. They usually recommend that the actual acidophilous that is effective is found in the refrigeration section because it is still active and living. So your best bet would be to stick with the yogurt and get your calcium intake at the same time.

I like taking the pills rather than eating so much yogurt everyday...both are fine.

In case you want to try yogurt, later - as the measure of prevention:
Try organic , unsweetened, yogurt with live/active bacteria culture.

acidophilous pill ..look for some bifidophilous also they are the large bowel bacteria
