Indian society has cultivated people to seek approval for every step they take or for any action and those who dare to be different are jeered at,mocked, harassed and so many times punished in one way or another.

But, of late, with the advent of globalisation and so-called modernisation, with reality t.v. entering our homes also, people have started craving for those 5-minutes of fame/attention. This is a time of big-turmoil in Indian Society as old values are fast disappearing and no new values are emerging. It's free for all, where everything is right. Some seek approval, most seek attention and Hermits are having a tough time coz they do not belong to any group viz attention-seekers/approval seekers.

It would seem that I disagree with everyone. I think that we all seek approval. Those of us who seek negative attention (by committing crimes, harming others, or just being outrageous) are merely testing our abilities to command the attention of others, and are therefore seeking approval from others that our efforts are extreme enough to attract attention. When our quest for approval becomes absurd, or dangerous, is when our desire for the approval of others outweighs our own judgement, or approval.

Pick Me! Pick Me!
Like most of media mad america, attention, even bad attention is good.
Is it OK to say that?
Well too bad unless there's something to profit from it, approval is only for the weak, and credit cards.

With this cult of celebrity crap in America, it is most important to seek attention (i.e. be famous) even if you have nothing to be famous for.
