i drove my dad's car yesterday and got stuck in traffic and ended up being rear ended by some big SUV. Being a new driver and uninsured, i panicked and didn't take down the guy's info and he ended up giving me false info. so now i either have to buy a new car or repair the car myself. is it even possible to repair a trunk in this condition? the car still runs btw

Holy crap. You didn't call the cops for a police report on a collision that violent?

You're looking at several thousand dollars to fix that.

I think that looks worse than it is. The damage to the rear quarter panels (like the back fender) is not too bad, and it looks like the frame is still straight.

A visit to a junkyard should get you a trunk lid, some tail lights, and some trim for one or two hundred dollars. If you're lucky, you might be able to get parts in the same color.

If the body has a wrinkle above either rear wheel, then the frame is bent, and will need straightening if you want the repair to be good quality.

Cheapest and ugliest of all, just bang the trunk lid back straight enough so it will latch, and buy sealed truck-style taillight units and wire them up.

So, you dad doesn't carry insurance? If you are a "new" driver, and you were driving your father's car with his permission, you would be covered under his insurance. And how exactly is it that you claim you did not take down the other driver's info....yet you say he gave you false info? It sounds this this whole rear ended thing is a made up cover story.

See, the thing is that more then likely, you were legaly covered under your father's insurance, and you then broke the law by failing to call the police.

First off, that sucks. Best way to fix is to find a salvage car that got hit in the front and graph the good back end on tou your car. unfortunately you are look at $2000-3000. Is the car worth this?? If not, sell for junk on Ebay.
