Sorry, but absolute happiness comes from within and not what u have. Besides, in this imperfect world, it's impossible........almost.

I have acquired all of the so-called things that are supposed to bring happiness--money, big house, beautiful children, handsome and successful husband, and the more I acquired the more miserable I became...this is a mystery I am still trying to figure out for myself, because I believe I am the only one that can determine the satisfaction and happiness I feel with my life! It seems the more a person acquires, (especially if it is because of the perks of being married to someone who makes so much more money than you) the less of your own life there is left to live..the rest of your life will be one big responsibility after another, one more bill to pay, one more problem to argue about with your spouse or kids, and on and on....I hope to gain some perspective on this too...so you are not alone in your questions about this life! Maybe knowing that these questions you ask are comman, yet also difficult, and people everywhere struggle finding the balance they need to find happiness...maybe this will be of some comfort to you?

To answer your question, I honestly believe that absolute happiness is impossible, and if on the odd chance there was ever a person in the history of mankind that found true absolute happiness, it was only for a fleeting moment, and then lost. This is a good thing, trust me.
In any case, if you feel like there is a lacking of happiness in your life circumstances, take a look at how you see your world. Your attitude toward your surroundings is a variable controlled soley and entirely by you, and happiness is one possible symptomn. Also, take a look inside yourself. It is as the ancient proverb says "If you do not go within, you go without." Take a moment whenever you can to focus on one of the personal and healing practices you can undergo in times of imbalance:
Solitary
Silence
Space / Distance
Darkness
Thoughtlessness
Stillness / Immobility

Focusing on any one of these (in act or observation) can have revitalizing side effects, which can be felt on more than just the physical level, but also the psychological, emotional, intuitive, spiritual, and experiential. It is important to mention here that more is not neccessarily better.
For example, have you ever been dancing, and you can feel every muscle in your body full of blood, you're heart is racing, you're totally in the moment, and then all of a sudden you find yourself standing or sitting or lying totally still and something in you says "OH GOD, this is exactly what I needed!" And then about a minute later your back on the floor? THAT, that is stillness. Did you ever try it for an hour (not counting when you're asleep, or watching TV)?

See, my point is that it doesn't matter which of the life circumstance scenarios a person picks from your additional information, because a person can be happy in any and all, if they are comfortable in their own skin and have control with their "Self", their presence, the way they express themself in their world; If a person has control with their power of choice, then they are truly free to be themself, regardless of external circumstances. THAT is the closest anyone has ever come to absolute happiness, and was practiced by Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Mother Theresa, and Mahatma Gandhi, among many others, but as I have said, each felt it only for a fleeting moment on certain occasions. Many of those occasions have been hailed by people around the world as great tragedies, unforgivable sins, and the like, yet it was among their happiest moments. So please, do not mourn them, smile and be merry, as they would for you.

PLEASE RESPECT OUR ONLY HOME

Money is not going to have you absolute happiness. It is the life style u want to adop for yourself and the home. Be caring, love n respect all. Job does gives happiness if it is liked and start liking it and find your own ways to make it exciting. Spouse needs quality time although short but enjoy wholeheartedly. Ummm...a bit of romance...okay but no sexual involvement except the spouse and be romantic with spouse more often than she expects you....and fulfill all your commitments in the family...you would have an absolute happiness. Enjoy life to the fullest n think even a bad time as a learning experience....Good or bad....everyone has to face...so why not experience it with a smiling face...All the best.

Honestly i think that one can only receive absolute happiness by living in some kind of ranch or even an island. Where you and your most treasured loved ones can be together. Each person contributes into the life and health of the entire family. Your children learn by example and are taught the most important lessons in life. You are involved in their life. Your wife shows you support in all if not most of your decisions. A shoulder to lean on. A strong woman. Work the fields together, see the beautiful sunshine drip down upon your home and see your children and delicious wife smile at you. And you know then that they are truly happy. And that is what puts you so at peace. And for a slight moment, you are in bliss...and all the trouble in the world can not disturb you in this moment...this place i speak of does exist. It is far away from this corruption and technology. Where we live only to fatten the pockets of already fat men. We must live and die for those we hold dearest to our hearts. Everything else is really all for show............. you cant ask for more.

It doesn't matter what you do, how much you make, who you are with....

Happiness can only be attained if you are happy with yourself. You have to work on you and your opinion of yourself. Being grounded, optomistic, overall generous.

The Bible does say there is more happiness in giving that there is receiving. Doesn't that all point to the fact that you would be proud of yourself, and overall feeling good because YOU helped someone else. Is it really about the other person or is it about you?

Being at peace with yourself will allow you to enjoy whatever job you have, enjoy your mate, enjoy your family, etc....

Haven't you seen rich people that are absolutely miserable and just not happy in general? Haven't you seen a poor, plain janitor at a public area smile and sing while they are cleaning someone elses crap?

It is a STATE of MIND. If you are a HAPPY PERSON everything else will follow...

Focus on being positive, a good example to others, generous, GRATEFUL for what you have.

Heck look at how crapy people live in a 3rd world country and then count your blessing and SMILE.

Smile and the whole world smiles with you....
Fart and you stand alone :o)

There is no such thing as absolute happiness. It is something that is fleeting, comes and goes. And no, all the things you listed; salary, perks, etc. do not bring happiness at all. They bring more problems usually and more responsibility, but rarely happiness.

Usually what people on their death beds say they wished they had done more of was be with the ones they loved. So, make sure you have good relationships and treat others well. That will bring quality into your life...happiness.

No, no money, look at suicide of the rich, I almost got rich (when babyy dad got ripped off big time...debt keeps us down, earn tons, pay tons) I am as glad as heck I didn't grow up rich..I learned with troubles, you can be happy if you let yourself, depression is a differnt subject, but in most cases, if you work at it, you can be happy...with a good view.
My veiw is from my religion, and no offence to anyone any where (the R word tends to get fuses prepped =) )
Being someone worth something makes you happy, and , to me at least, helping and doing my best in what I think is right brings me happiness.
quote~
Marilyn Funt (a quote used in reffrence once) was asked if she thought she 'was anybody'
"I used to think being somebody meant public recognition of one's efforts. Wrong. I now know that the feeling of being somebody comes from hard work and self-growth. Being in control of my life makes me answer that question with a strong 'Yes!' [New York: Pinacle Books, 1981

Well, following what I know (to each their own) is true makes me happy, to know that I am doing something right and good.
Could do so by just doing what is 'right', help others, you must know the feeling of giving one help when they need it, it is a precious memory I'd wager, why? It helps you as much, if not more, then them, if you do it freely, if not it is a chore, try it =)
Be someone you would admire and look up to, most of them at any rate, some look up to money and singers etc, but who do YOU look up to, that you know..think about why you do, if it's not just because -others- do, then look closer maybe.

well, that is my bit, no offence meant to anyone anyplace.

You can not have happiness in any of those situations unless you choose to be happy with what you have, and choose not to be upset when things don't go your way. So the bottom line is your personal happiness depends on you. Good luck and don't worry be HAPPY
