It is a Graco Snugride. I am looking at the Graco Comfortsport but the one I am looking at is foward facing only. I know I am supposed to wait until he is a year old to turn him front facing, but I don't want to buy two carseats in the next 2 months to accomodate that short a period of time. Anyone with advice, I would love to hear it. I am a fan of Graco, because of experience so far, and consumer reports rates them high.

I would go with a convertible carseat, so you only have to buy one. I can't really help with Graco, but I would recommend the Britax Roundabout. Have had that car seat since my girls were a under a year and they are now 3 1/2 and it is still working great!

Buy a convertible that you can use rear facing at least till the baby is 20 lbs and one year of age. It is recommended that if possible you keep babies as long as possible rear faced. I did that with my older daughter, kept her rear faced way over 1 year old and 20lbs. But some babies are fussy in the car and they get a lot better once they can face forward, that was the case with my son. But anyway, never put a baby less than a year old facing forward.
I do not own a Graco but I am sure they have a convertible model if that is what you want. I own a Britax Roundabout and a Marathon (currently being used by my older kids) and I love them. I plan to move my twins to them when they outgrow their infant seats.
Best of luck to you!
* I just looked it up on Toys R Us online and they make the model you want convertible: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2437597&cp=2255983.2256187.2256196&parentPage=family

My son is 7 months but small for his age. We just bought a new car seat to replace his infant car seat. We also had the Graco, but we now have the Britax Boulevard which is the other highest rated safety car seat on the market. My son loves it and he seems very comfortable. It is a rear-facing seat but can be turned forward facing once he is old/big enough. They are expensive - around $299, but I think it's totally worth it.

All the graco comfortsport's are convertible car seats, they can face either way. I looked at them and in the end went with Safety 1st all-in-one convertible car seat when my son needed a large one.

Hmmmm. I have a Graco ComfortSport, and mine can be used front or rear facing. And my parents also have one, which can also be used the same way.

Do NOT put your baby forward facing until he/she is both one year old AND more than 20 pounds.

Buy a convertible seat, ComfortSport or not, and you won't have to buy two.

Please think about safety first.. Maybe borrow someone's carseat they no longer need that rear faces or get a convertable carseat that goes from 5lbs-20 rear face and can be forward facing as well 20-80lbs. We have a titan (Evenflo) it's very good and comfortable for our son... If you type in car seat safety video's on Youtube you might rethink forward facing all together... There's a safety video about a woman's toddler that was killed in a forward facing carseat.. Good luck

Comfortsports are convertible seats which means they can be used front or rear facing. Maybe you were thinking of a safe seat 2? I had a comfortsport and ended up having to replace it before my daughter even turned 18 months because she outgrew it. The top slots on the comfortsport are only 14.5 inches-the lowest of all convertible seats. You definitely wouldn't be getting your money's worth out of that. Perhaps try a Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe: http://www.albeebaby.com/fiprsavodeco1.html or an Evenflo Triumph ADVANCE: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2734224&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255957&origkw=evenflo+triumph&kw=evenflo+triumph&parentPage=search

If your son is 20 pounds I would turn him around to front facing and get the seat you want. It's not like any one is gonna demand to see your son's birth certificate to prove his age. I know that rear facing is safer, but that really ony applies to to infants that are smaller. My son was so big that his legs were going up the back seat when he was 10 months old and rear facing. I think I squeezed him in that seat as long as I could, but then gave up and turned him around. He was 10 pounds at birth, so he was plenty big enough. He was SO much happier front facing too. If his birthday is only 2 months away, I would say do it. Not sure how popular this answer is gonna be though...
