Why do people call Muslims "Mohamedeans"??
Where the hell did that come from??
And why all this racism and stereotypes against the religion, especially by people who know NOTHING about it???????
you really dont know much about the religion unles you follow it..
why is it i can go to stores normally and get treated just like the other customers but when i go the same place walking in with a lady wearing a veil i get treated like dirt and trash???
Why are people giving us all such a hard time?? I mean if they really are doing this cuz they think we are violent terrorists it doesnt make any sense because the last thing you want to do is provoke and anger a terrorist...

there is no such thing as Mohamedeans,, anymore than there are Jesuseans, or Moseseans.. ( haha!) .. Islam is the only religion thats not named after a person place or thing.. Its an idea.. the very word "Islam" is a root form of Peace..

Some Americans, especially older ones, use the term Mohammadian because that was the name the religion was given in grade school text books years ago. So I believe use of that term is sometimes out of ignorance. Other people use it because they simply want to annoy Muslims. A third group, the haters, uses Mohammadian because they know it makes a Islam sound like a cult. But if you think about it, Christianity is also named after a person, so a person with no knowledge that the term is offensive could hear it, then logically assume it is an acceptable synonym for Islam.

YOU ALREADY ANSWERED IT. if somebody knows about the religion (that only some strong-anti-western militants make it to be shown as religion of terrorists in western countries) why they would attack you? they already knows that you're not threat for them.

to be uncertain and little afraid of everything unknown is a common human's behavior Tuty (it helped and helping to survive, you know). while it stay in that stage, result is just showing respect. it doesn't harm anything and anybody.
but when with uncertainty is "bundled" also frustration, then it turns to something worse and instead of just showing respect, people may start acting like aggressors even if you don't act like a threat for them.
of course, with what I wrote above I don't want to defend people that made you feel the way like you feel now when you posted this question. just trying to help you find what is behind. and when it comes to US (it is where you currently live, right?) it pays doubled (frustration) and you sure know why.

Hey, don't worry too much about the term 'Mohamedean'. It's just an antiquated phrase- like using 'Oriental' instead of 'Asian'. It's really not bad, or meant to be offensive, it's just old, outdated, and from another time when people were not quite as aware. I would assume someone using this word is probably older, or just not knowledgeable about other religions, and is incorrect in using it, not offensive- if they wanted to use a nasty word for Muslims, they could probably find one a lot more obvious. If you hear someone say this, take the time to kindly explain that 'Muslim' is the proper term- you might make a friend and educate someone about your faith, all in one go.

In the old days people use to say Muhammadans, not as an insult, they just didn't know it was called Islam. Now I guess it is used as an insult

A Mohamedean is a big sandwich that has alot of ham in it, no cheese, just alot of ham.
