Say for some reason you are "trapped" on a rainy day with 6 kids (not all yours), ages 6 to 12, in a rented cabin. It's furnished & supplied with basic supplies including cooking ingredients. What kind of paint, clay or other art item could you make with household stuff?

Flour and water make an incredible molding paste (with just a touch of salt) Form letters, use cookie cutters or just make shapes. Bake and paint.

Another fun project I always planned for emergencies liek this is to have magazines close by. Kids like to cut and paste. You can sit and talk and cut and paste pictures from the magazines onto paper or over the tops of other pictures just for fun.

Do you have small paper bags? If so make puppets, can use pen if do not have other things. Have the kids make something up about their peppet. Put on a skit with their stories.

i think making paper lunch bag puppets would be something really fun and easy!
just give each child one or two and some markers and have them be creative by setting up a "stage" and have them make a story time or something, i'm sure this will buy you lots of time
hope this helps, it sounds fun to me!

You could use shaving cream and plastic wrap...wrap the table with plastic wrap and put the shave cream on the table to use like finger paints or something...draw pics in it and smooth it out over and over again.
