1 million =1000 thousands
1 thousand = 1000
so,
1 million = 1000,000
24.5 X 1000,000 =24,500,000

24,000,000 + 500,000 or 24 million plus a half a million for twenty four and a half million. I would not drop a half a million if it were dollars.
