There are actually bigger problems than Iraq facing the human species, but it's such a complicated discussion that I can't even understand it all, much less give an opinion on it. Wars, especially stupid, self-serving, financially motivated wars have ALWAYS existed. Mankind always just managed to stumble out of them. The problems our species now face, of destroying the very environment which sustains us, are so much beyond that simple question of mere thousands or even millions of lives, that I am a bit flabbergasted. I dunno. There. That's my answer. Go ask the dodo bird. Or ask your great-grand child. I am SURE the Bush regime will be remembered in history by our descendants somehow, if only by beating rocks against stones.
P.S. I don't blame this on Bush or declining culture. It's just a long cycle of nature. A dominant species eats up it's resources and dies, leaving room for it's successor. It's sort of natural. I bet god, if he exists, is giving us a nod.

Doomed... not yet.
Despite the amount of damage done to this country in the past 5 years by the current regime, we can still recover.
It will require putting aside partisan bickering and actually working together to restore integrity to the political process.
How likely that is to happen I leave for a different question.

We should all want the United States to win.
US has done good things to the Iraqis
They have provided them with:
-healthcare
-medical supplies
-infrastructure
-school supplies
-training
These are all acts of 'Love'. These soldiers do this everyday knowing that the same people maybe out to kill them.
I can't think of anything more noble than this.
There will be those who talk of peace, sing about peace, and write about peace....but the US Soldier knows how to make peace.

The US is not doomed. However, if we don't start doing something different in Iraq, it's not going to be good in any way for the US.

Radical Islam is not equipped to take down the US and if ever they truly try, we could take them all out with a quick swap of the hand.
That said, the US is not losing in Iraq. It is the people of Iraq that are losing in Iraq.

We are just another colonial power to them. I would hardly be surprised if after we leave there won't be years of retalliations for all the deaths we have caused.- I am somewhat optimistic that we can do better - with new leadership - and learn from this misadventure that was Bush's war.
