Yes, because I was precocious. I learned to read before I went to nursery school, and could write my name and do other things the other kids didn't learn until later. My grandmother taught me a lot of things just because that was the way she was brought up. Problem is, it meant the other kids thought I was showing off, called me "teacher's pet," and basically did not like me much. Eventually my teachers would ask me not to raise my hand every time I knew the answer because I should "give the other kids a chance." I figured if they knew, they'd put their hands up, too, and it was up to the teacher to decide who to call on.
That's why when I saw "The Gifted Kids Survival Guide" by Judy Galbraith I bought it, although I was already an adult. I wanted it handy in case I had to help a friend or neighbor with the problems I faced.

Well I heard that a few times.. Although I got the impression that there was alot of things that confused anyone like teachers , my parents or doctors. I never did know exactly what was going on with that - just that there was alot of discussion. I would try to spy on them, but my methods were far to crude to get any good info. hehe
