Yes. You should be able to replace it with virtually any other monitor.
The only "compatability" issue you will need to look for is the type of video connection you have. There are two major standards, VGA (blue, 15 pins) and DVI (white).
Make sure you buy the same one as your computer has. If the monitor supports the other one, there are converters you can purchase (very inexpensive) to go fromVGA->DVI and vice versa.

Monitors are not tied to specific computers (your tower), they are dependant upon the type of video card you have. Does your card support analog or digital output or both? Displays come in a few different types. A standard CRT is the most common type of monitor and widely used. They are also the most cost-effective. LCD and TFT monitors have a flat tube so they take up less desk space. Of course if you want the most from a digital display you need a Digital Visual Interface (DVI) capable video card. So do your reseach and beware busting the budget!

Just plug it into where the old one was plugged, 95% will just work that way, if not, it will come with what it needs and instructions, I swap moniters a ton (moved a lot).
Luck to you

you want a video card that helps 2 video show gadgets. in case you are trying splitting a Dsub-25 (VGA connection) into 2, you will burn out your video card. you may chop up a DVI output with out repercussions right into a pair of Dsub-25 (even although those delivers you the comparable output on the two ends). in case you want different outputs, a video card with dissimilar visual show unit help is a thank you to bypass. Oh, and after analyzing above, there is not any adapter for VGA to DVI.

Yes. Just unplug the old monitor, plug the new one in, and start the computer.
Windows will recognize that there is a different monitor.

Yeah, you might need to install software(would come with it), or it might be plug&play, where it works when you plug it in.
