I don't know about the exact details of lucid dreaming, but I find that I can control what I dream about if I fall asleep thinking about it. Like, say you really like a certain movie, if you fall asleep thinking about that movie you will have a dream related to that movie. I can do this every time I fall asleep-if I concentrate and just picture it in my mind while I'm falling asleep. I hope this answer helps some...

Interesting way of describing it. If we go far away from the hectic routine and the crowds of opinions, viewing it all from the distance, yes, we might see it as a lucid dream within another lucid dream. After all, in a world where the rules of logic are questionable, how do we know if what we see, touch or hear is truly there? How do we define logic or reality? In the absence of those two bases of the world, we could safely assume that life is just a matter of perception. Humans are creatures that live according to the rules of their own instincts of perception. We're capable of maintaining lucidity and power of comprehension, therefore we're still aware - hence the LUCID dream. But the limits of reality are questionable - hence the dream. If every action is based on personal instincts and personal matters of perception, then one act after the other means one lucid dream within another lucid dream. After all, we're all dreams inside the dream of a dreamer who's been asleep since the beginning of time. We're all the lucid products of a dreamer who sleeps at the gate of time. When he/she obtains dream lucidity, his/her consciousness will be awoken, and when looking inside of his/her own dreams, we'll be inevitably faced with our own reflection. And we'll wake up. The dream will end and we'll remain in the pure form of lucidity. :)

In your dream, if you want something to happen bad enough.. it will happen. Eg if you are getting chased by a elephant and you want elephant to stop chacing you and find a banana tree instead, it'll happen (only if you really want to).
To dream what you want to dream.. keep thinking about it before sleeping. Tell yourself what you want to dream, visualise it in your mind and just keep thinking about it before you fall asleep.
To remember the dreams, as soon as you get up think about what you dreamt, how it felt and write it down. Sometimes you wont remember it at all and other times you might remember a bit, because what you dreamt only stays for few mins after getting up. Try to recall it when you get up. Eventually you can train your mind not to forget the dreams and make more sense of what you dreamt. It takes some time but you can do it.
Good luck.

There are several ways to take control in bad dreams.
1. Give yourself tools to help you. Pay attention to where certain items are located in your house. Put things like knives in the same place away every time, so if you are having a bad dream in your house, you know where these objects are and can use them for your defense.
2. Arm yourself with knowledge and truth. Your brain will lie to you in bad dreams, put you in situations that are impossible in waking life, try to get you to accept something false in order to play out some plot. When you go to bed at night, remind yourself of things that are true. For instance, I remind myself that I've graduated from school, I have been out of high school for years, so when I dream I am back in high school and forgot my locker combination and my homework, I am able to remember, no, I graduated. I don't have to hide from the hall monitor any more!
3. Practicing meditation before going to sleep will help put you in a better dream state.
4. Try to take care of your problems. Most bad dreams stem from the stress of life being out of control. The more you take care of and solve your problems in you waking life, you will find yourself more powerful in your dream life.
5. Creative solutions to problems become creative dreams. Learn how to laugh at problems, learn how to do the unexpected, learn how to walk away from stupid choices, and your power over your dreams will increase.
6. Quit making the same stupid choices over and over again!
You don't have to take that last drink, you don't have to smoke that cigarette, you don't have to have sex with that one person, you don't have to take those drugs, you don't have to tell those lies to keep your friends, you don't have to hide from your parents if you have learned how to act responsibly in public. Didn't anybody learn anything from America's Funniest Home Videos? Stupid choices make for stupid problems and will come back to haunt you in bad dreams! Learn how to make better choices, and your dreams will get better.
Good Luck!
