When your married your married it doesn't make a difference where you got married just as long as you have that piece of paper that says you are married.

Absolutely! Marriage is very loosely regulated in the U.S. with the exception of same-sex marriage. The U.S. readily accepts marriages from all other countries. It will help a lot if you have some documentation showing that you did get married.
You didn't say if you have come back to the U.S. If one of you is a citizen of Brazil, the marriage may help get the Brazilian into the U.S. But you will still have to deal with the INS which is guaranteed to be a bureaucratic nightmare. So just take it one step at a time and keep going.
By the way, I have lots of friends and relative who got married in other countries and are now living in the U.S. No problems as far as the legality of their marriages is concerned.

I just picked my husband up from the airport from Rio today!
In general the United States recognizes marriages as valid here if they were legal where entered into.
Good Luck and God Bless

As long as you have a marriage certificate, I would think you would be just as married here as you are there. Lots of couples are married in other countries.

No.
You still have to get married in the U.S. courthouse to get the legally married status.
