They could. Many women find herpes of any variety is triggered by hormonal changes/ their menstrual cycle, so I assume that the hormonal and other physical changes of early pregnancy might have the same effect. It is also possible that the extra stress on your body has lowered your immune system, allowing the herpes to surface. I doubt it is anything to worry about.

I'm told I have herpes type1 but have never got an outbreak in my life! I'm also 40weeks pregnant and if it helps you, I still haven't gotten an outbreak.
But, if you do have genital herpes right before you deliver, you have to do a c section or else your child can get really sick. fyi

you can have a herpes outbreak anytime during your pregnancy, I read on line that as long as you didn`t get your very first outbreak while your pregnant , your baby actually builds antibodies against the herpes virus during your pregnancy, but it is worst if you get your first outbreak while your pregnant, meaning you never had the disease before !! do a search on herpes and pregnancy and read up on it yourself
god bless
