It is the Nazca Plains in Peru. If you go to google.earth you can put in the coordinates (be sure to put in the minus signs at the beginning of the latitude and longitude values) :
-14.6904, -75.123
you will find the lines of Nazca and some of the pictures.

Some historians believe that those people could've used air balloons (or something similar) to go up into the sky to make sure the people down there were doing it right.
But the purpose of the drawings is not completely known.

No one thinks they are designed for UFOs. That bit of flummery was thought up by a guy who wrote "ancient astronaut" books.
