The bus ride is constant, so you know that you will have 250 + something. The admission and lunch are PER student, so you can write it as 8x for admission and 5x for lunch.

So, you have c=250+8x+5x
You can simplify the 8x and 5x to get 13x, so you also have c=250+13x

Just plug in 20 for x and solve: c=250+13*20. Don't forget to multiply 13 and 20 first, then add 250.

C = 250 + (8+5)x
When x = 20, C = 250 + 13*20 = $510

Let the cost be c(20) if 20 students went on the trip.
c = 250+(8+5)n, n is the number of students.
or
c = 250 + 13n
c(20) = 250+13(20) = $510

x = # of students
Cost = 250 +8x +5x
Cost = 250 + 13x
Cost(20) = 250 + 20*13 = $510

250 + x(8 + 5)

since the 250 wont change, u just multiply the admission and lunch by the number of students, x.

for 20 it would be...
250 + 20x13.
=
$510

cost per student = 8+5=13
if x students go then 13x + 250 is the total cost expression
if 20 students go then x=20 & 13x plus the 250 is $510 total
