Why did Chief kill McMurphy(Jack Nicholson) at the end of the movie? Is it because he knew McMurphy would be subjected to more ECT treatments and would never get out?The end of this movie really threw me for a loop.

And was McMurphy actuall crazy,or was he faking it?

he was faking it but at the end he was given a lobotomy and chief killed him because he realized that McMurphy would rather be dead than live like that. so basicly McMurphy was a vegitable when he died.

McMurphy had been lobotomized which means they took out the part of his brain that made him an individual and just left basically a zombie. Chief killed him as a favor because he knew McMurphy would never have wanted to continue living that way. (Why would he have faked it? I can't see anyone wanting to go to a place like that.)

Chief killed Randal because he *McMurphy* would never be the same after he had been lobotomized and he knew that that was no way to live *basically being a zombie*. But McMurphy was never crazy. He was the sanest of the bunch
