Hm, I don't know much about ostriches, but I would expect for them to have more down feathers. Seeing as how large they are, they would probably need more down feathers to insulate the whole body. I'm thinking that because of their large weight and small wings, they cannot fly; therefore, wouldn't they have less contour feathers since they have no need for them?

I don't think flying has anything to do with down versus contour.

no it doesn't have anything to do with those feather thingy.... they can't fly because of their weight to wing ratio..... observe how small their wings are..
