My husband is competing in State Games next Sunday and Nationals in 3 1/2 weeks. Rust stains appeared on his uniform, I think from a chair it was hanging on. How do I get them out. It cannot be bleached.

Bar Keepers Friend

Who knew it works on clothes?

Thanks.

It did a great job. I only let it sit 1-2 minutes and scrubbed with a brush. The smaller spots were almost instantly gone and the huge spots were gone within 5 minutes of scrubbing. The uniform is whiter now then when it was new. Now that is really good.

There is a product called Barkeeper's Friend that does an outstanding job with rust and iron deposits. Just make a paste and rub it into the stain and let it work for 15 minutes and then use a small scrub brush to remove the stain.

One of the oldest ideas for removing rust stains-and one that works the best for me-is to moisten the stain with lemon juice, cover with salt and dry in the sun. Then launder as usual.
