That should not be the goal. because then the question arises,'Who is this master?'.
One has just to find the Self and abide in It.

In order to master oneself, one has to master one's desires..... in order to master desires, one has to inculcate total acceptance, and in order to be able to accept all and everything, one has to eliminate ego altogether...... that would lead to equivalence with non-existence..... which means one ends up mastering oneself only when one is ready to lose oneself totally.... as long as one exists, there is that insurmountable dependence for survival which would not let one master oneself completely. Our very existence implies some helplessness or the other!!
However, the route as described above can be used to maximize self ownership and minimize slavery to a great extent. This is the route to strengthen oneself by acquiring power over oneself.

Being the master of youself is to be selfrightious. To be selfrightious is to beleive that you are ALWAYS right, which there is no one who is RIGHT ALL the time. This person has an overinflated ego, which can and will only get him/herself into nothing but trouble, in the longrun.........end of stroy.

First off you need to realized not to let anybody have a hold over you, such as favours or past sins. Avoid, " you own me one" but sometimes this can't be help. This all comes down to not too let anybody have control over you.

-Identify your greatest needs and wants.
-Control these needs and wants.
-Adjust and change as needs and wants change.
-You have controlled yourself.
Controlling yourself is a matter of knowing your inner needs and wants. When you know them well enough, then you know how you as a person will act and react in situations, then naturally you know what you should avoid, and what you should take part in.

Never let anything but your mind be in control of what you do -- never follow your heart or passions.

Think about your thoughts (and actions) and don't seperate your personality or ideas into different facets. Figure out why you do things, why you decide things, and where you stand.
