I have been married but separated from my husband 15 yrs ago, we were married in Calif. we were married for 20 yrs. before we separated. I want to know if he can get a divorce from me without my signature or me even knowing?

No. A divorce stipulates the breaking of the legal contract of marriage. While one partner may force the other into going along with it, the document breaking the contract requires signatures from both parties. Also, division of property et al requires the involvement of both partners. As marriage is a two-person affair, so also is divorce.

If he knows where you are, he'll have to have you served with legal papers that begin the divorce process. If he DOESN'T know where you are, he'll have to jump through a lot of legal hoops to begin the process. I don't know the California divorce laws, but my guess is, it's easier to find you than it is to jump through all the hoops.

Yes it's where he will be divorced from you and you can't get married until you get your divorce from him. I no it sounds stupid but in some states it's legal.
